OBITUARY
MR. C. M. OLLIVIER [BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION] CHRISTCHURCH, Sunday The death occurred on Saturday morning of Mr. C. M. Ollivier, manage ing-director of Woolston Tanneries, and a director of several other businesses in Christchurch. The funeral, which took place to-day, was attended by a very large number of citizens. MRS. ALICE THORP [BT TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] PAEROA, Sunday '][> The death has occurred at her lat® j, residence, Donburn, Paeroa, of MrsAlice Price Thorp, in her 82nd year, i - Born in Launceston, Tasmania, she was the daughter of the late Mr. R. G* Gibbons, coming to New Zealand in tlia early 'eighties. In 1891 she married the late Mr. J. W. Thorp, and had lived at Paeroa ever since. Mr. Thorp, who died 14 years ago, was well-itnown as an early settler and prospector, being first man to discover gold on the Karangahake field. He was an authority on Maori land matters, ana of great assistance to the Government in negotiating with the Maoris when the Ohinemuri geldfields were opened. Mrs. Thorp was a sister of Mr. Hope Gibbons, of Wanganui, and Mr. H. *• Gibbons, of Palmerston North. She is. survived by three daughters, Misses h< G. and M. Thorp, of Paeroa, and Mrs. It. A. Wilson, of Christchurch.
