BENEVOLENT SOCIETY
Sir,—The 51st annual report of the Auckland Ladies' Benevolent Society : makes sad reading. At a time when I help is urgently needed the society's expenditure has been greatly reduced ' owing to a diminished income. This f means there is very little to go round, i "Most of the help is given to elderly ?■ or sick women, some old-age pensioners but mainly those who have not been in New Zealand the required 25 years." |! Costs of administration are very low ' a total of £3B for the year. One "thinks | lack of support is largely because there ;f are many who do not know about the Ladies' Benevolent Society. To those ekeing out a bare existence in a one. roomed home even a little extra meam ' so much. E. Fordhaj;. Otahuhu.
