BIBLE IN SCHOOLS
CAMPAIGN IN AUCKLAND For more than a week the campaign to secure support for the Religious Instruction in Public Schools Enabling Bill has been carried on in Auckland by the Hev. E. 0. Blamires, Dominion organiser for the Bible in Schools League, and the Hon. L. M. Jsitt, M.L.C. They have been in touch with the Student Christian Union at the Training College. and met the committee of the Teachers" Institute on Saturday i'igyesterday morning Mr. Blamires conducted the service at St. David's Presbyterian Church, and preached at St. Matthew's Church in the evening. He quoted some striking illustrations of complete ignorance of the fundamental facts of Christianity to be found among schoolchildren of all ages, and maintained that the exclusion of the Bible from the education system was wrong and . iinstiunci educationally and scientifically as well as spiritually. Mr. Isitt occupied the pulpit of the Onehunga Presbyterian Church in the morning and preached at All Saints' Church in the evening. Various women's organisations will co-operate in a large women's gathering to be held in St. Matthew's Hall on Wednesday afternoon, and the campaign will be continued at various churches next Sunday.
