PORT OF SYDNEY
A RECORD YEAR VOLUME OF SHIPPING SYDNEY, July 20 The volume of shipping which entered the port of Sydney during the year ended June 30 last was the largest in the history of the port. Imports increased considerably. The improvement in the volume of trade is reflected in the wharfage revenue derived. Although the rates have not been altered the increase in revenue from overseas trade amounted to 22 per cent over the previous year. An analysis of the official record of the Sydney Harbour Trust reveals thnt the tonnage of shipping which entered Sydney last year was 17,586.164. This exceeded the figure for 1927, the previous record year, by 1,059,366 tons.
