GRAMMAR'S SUCCESS

GOOD DISPLAY BY BACKS Play in the King's-Grammar match, which took place at the Grammar School, was bright and interesting. Each set of backs received much of the ball, but Grammar was always the more positive, the backs in particular displaying more cohesion and sureness than did those of King's. Attempts by King's at passing rushes were generally suppressed before the ball was further than the five-eighths line. Grammar was first to score, succeeding after the game had been in progress for 10 minutes. Knight obtained the ball at halfway and passed to Coughlan, who, running Maßsey into a favourable position, sent him across for a try. Passmore converted. Offside by King's enabled Passmore to kick a goal, and then Grammar was penalised. Archdall goaling with a strong kick front about half-way, making the half-time score: Grammar, 8; King's, <?. Passing between Knight. Coughlan and Jones ended in the last-named scoring in a pood position. Passmore again converted. •King's efforts were at last crowned with success through the resource of Duigan. He kicked acrosß the field to a gap where the winger, Douglas, seeing the opportunity, caught the ball on the bounce and scored noar the corner. Archdall 8 kick failed. No sooner had play been resumed, than the Grammar bncks got away in a passing movement from which Jones added another try. Passmore and the game ended:—Grammar, 18; King's, G. Mr. J. Sweeney was referee.
