CONSPIRACY CHARGES
TWO MEN BEFORE COURT REMANDED IN CUSTODY Two men, Reginald Merton Semb, electrician, aged 29, and Matthew Edward Daubney, salesman, aged 22, appeared before Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M., on Saturday morning, on a charge that at Auckland, on or about July 16, they conspired with each other with intent to defraud by false pretences to obtain from Arthur Raglan Gatland the sum of £75. Senior-Datective Hall asked for a remand. He opposed a request for bail by one of the men on the ground that the charge was a serious one'., and said there might be others iniplicated. Accused were remanded in custody until next Saturday. Two women were arrested on Saturday afternoon by Detective-Sergeant A. G. McHugb and Detective L. Wilson on a charge of conspiracy. They will appear in the Polioe Court this morning.
