OBITUARY
MR. R. D. KELLY [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] NAPIER, Friday The death has occurred of Mr. Robert Daniel Kelly, who was at one time chief inspector of the post and Telegraph Department and a former chief postmaster at Auckland. Mr. Kelly retired in 1925 after 42 years' service with the department. Mr. Kelly was appointed to the Post Office staff at Napier in 1883, and was employed there and at Auckland for the following twenty years. He was then promoted to a controlling position in the accounting section of the head office, and remained in that section for six years. Subsequently he occupied the positions of assistant-postmaster, Wellington; senior inspector for the South Island; chief postmaster, Gisborne; chief postmaster, Christchurch; and chief postmaster, Auckland. Mr. Kelly was appointed chief inspector of the department in 1923. MRS. ETHEL MAY TOTIGH [by telechapu—OWN corkkspokdknt] DAROAVILLE, Fridny The death occurred suddenly this morning of Mrs. Ethel May Totich, wife of Mr. John M. Totich, New Zealand Consul for the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. Deceased, who had a seizure at 11.30 last night, was born in Auckland 45 years ago, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Fry, and was married in 1914. She had lived in Dargaville since, and in addition to taking an active interest in her husband's work as consul she endeared herself to the Yugoslav people who have settled in the Dominion, more particularly in Auckland and North Auckland. She was a very active member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. In addition to her husband, she leaves one daughter. The funeral will take place in Auckland on Sunday.
