G. E. Harker. The Vice-Regal party subsequently came on to Waipnknrau, where another warm reception was accorded, the' Mayoi, Mr. L W. N. Mackie, presenting an address. Friday Calling at Dannevjrke in the cours# of their tour of southern HawkeV : Bay, the Governor-General and Viscountess Galway were accorded a cirir reception at the Town Hall, which wai used for the first time since the earthquake 16 months ago. The btiildins was crowded and there was a big overflow. An address of welcome on behalf of | the borough and Dannevirke County : was read by the Mayor, Mr. E. Gibj bard, and Sir Alfred Ransom, acting- ' Prime Minister, and member for the district, supplemented the official wet come, referring to the changes in the i district since the advent of the first Danish settlers some 70 years ago. Lady Ransom, the Mayoress, and members of the Borough an i - County Councils and their wives were on the - platform. Lord Galway spoke of the King's in- j terest in the Dominion; and made & i | graceful reference to Denmark's elose association with Britain through her connection with Britain'n Royal Family. j Ihe Dannevirke High School cadet* formed a guard of honour.
