INDICATIONS FOR RAIN HEAVY FALLS IN THE SOUTH The weather report and forecast for New Zealand, issued last evening bv thft Government, meteorologist, was as follows:—A slight anti-cyclone is moving slowly off the North Island and a depression is approaching the Dominion from the Tasman. The forecast is for moderate to strong northerly winds rising to gale" force at places especially in and south of Cook Strait. Seas in New Zealand waters rough south of Cape Kgmont and about Cook and Foveaux Straits elsewhere moderate. Eastern Tasman' Sea: Strong northerly winds, hacking to westerlies in the northern portion Seas rough. The weather is likely to be mainly fair in East Coast areas south of East Cape, but with some scattered showers; elsewhere cloudy to overcast with rain and some heavy falls in west tfoast districts of the Sou«h Island and the far south. Temperatures mild. SPECIAL AUCKLAND FORECAST SHOWERS DEVELOPING - The Government meteorologist issued to the Herald last evening the following special forecast for the Auckland Province: —Moderate but freshening north-east to north winds. The weather is likely to be fine at first, but clouds increasing and showers developing tomorrow. Mild temperatures. Seas moderate. WEEK-END WEATHER Auckland. —Fine, sunny weather-was experienced during the week-end, the wind being light and variable. It was southerly on Saturday and northerly yesterday. There was very little movement of the barometer, which was practically steady, during the two days. The thermometer registered 56 deg. at 4 p.m. yesterday. Barometer, midnight, steady .. SQ.OOIn. Midnight, Saturday .. .. 30.00 in. Wellington.—Fair, mild and pleasant weather prevailed on Saturday-, with a moderate north-westerly breeze. Yesterday was fine, but during the morning it clouded over and the rest of the day was cloudy and threatening, with light rain occasionally falling and a rather fresh north-westerly wind. The minimum temperature during Saturday night was 42.1 deg. The maximum during Sunday was 54.1deg. Christchurch. —Saturday was fine and sunny. To-day was fine with considerable cloud. The barometer has a falling tendency and registered 29.91 in. ab 5 o'clock yesterday. Dunedin.-pSaturdav was fine and pleasant with sunshine and passing cloud. The maximum temperature was 53deg. It was sunny yesterday morning, but later the sky was overcast and there was a chilly south-easterly wind. The maximum' temperature was 48deg. The barometer was falling.
