OBITUARY
DR. S. J. KIRKBY LOSS TO SYDNEY DIOCESE l SYDNEY. July 13 The death is announced of Dr. S. J. Kirk by, Coadjutor-Bishop of Sydney, after a long illness. He was aged 56. The late Dr. Kirkby. had been Coadjutor-Bishop of Sydney since June, 1932. Ho was regarded as one ot the ablest clergy of the diocese. His contributions to the synodical debates on important Church problems were always listened to with respect, and had much weight owing to the valuable constructive suggestions which his speeches invariably contained. In addition to valuable work for the Bush Church Aid Society, Dr. Kirkby had parochial experiences in the dioceses ol Bendigo and Sydney. He was educated at Mooro Theological College and at the universities of Oxford and Cambridge. During 1911 he was acting principal .of the Moore Theological College, and in 191314 he was rector of St. Anne's, Hyde. In 1931 he was appointed archdeacon of Camden. *
