AUSTRIAN CHANCELLOR WIFE KILLED INSTANTLY SON SERIOUSLY HURT CHAUFFEUR'S FATAL INJURY By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received July 14. 5.5 p.m.) VIENNA, July 13 The Chancellor of Austria, Dr. Schuschnigg, was injured, his wife was killed, and his son injured and his chauffeur died of injuries, as the result of their motor-car colliding with a tree at Linz. A report that the accident was due to foul play is officially denied. The chauffeur was suffering from sunstroke and lost control of the car. He died a few minutes after having been admitted to hospital.

Frau Schuschnigg was killed instantly. Dr. Schuschnigg's son, who is a violinist, underwent an operation after the accident.

Dr. Schuschnigg is suffering from concussion and does not remember the accident happening. He owes his life to the fact that he was thrown from the car. He broke down when "lie heard of his wife's death. He went to a chapel where her remains had been placed and knelt in prayer. The Cabinet hastily met and decided to recall Prince von Starhenberg, viceChancellor, from Venice to take control until Dr. Schuschnigg is restored to health. Extraordinary precautions were taken after the accident, owing to nervousness due to the nearness of the anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Dollfuss, the former Chancellor. Auxiliary police were mobilised and the Heimwehr ordered to stand by. It is reported that Frau Schuschnigg recently received an anonymous parcel of mourning cards accompanied by a note stating: " You may find these useful in the near future."
