GAMES PLAYED IN COUNTRY
The following results of hockey matches played in country centres of the Auckland Province on Saturday afternoon were forwarded by correspondents of the Jir.iUt.p:— Hamilton. —After an interval of three weeks, during which local representatives had been preparing for the game against the touring Indian hockey team, the competition fur the Killip Memorial Shield, conducted under the auspices of the Waikato Hockey, Association, was resumed at Steele Park. Hamilton East. In the first match of the day Old Boys defeated Kaipaki by two goals to one. Both of Old Boys' goals were secured by Hammond, while Burrows registered Kaipaki's only point. The game between Old Technicals and Hinrmoa resulted in a win for the former by four goals to two. Forster (25, and Ivilham aud McKenzie compiled the score in favour of Old Technicals, while points against were obtained by Powdrill and MonteiUi. Te Awamutu. —Two games in the Walpa Hockey Association's championship competitions were played at Paterangi. In the ladies' mat oh, for iLe_ Finch Rose Bowl. Paterangi defeated Hairini by two goals (Miss E. Spiersl to one (Miss Z. Spiers) after a very keen tussle, in which the play was bright and fast. Playing in the Empeon Cup series, Paterangi successfully withstood an attack by Te Awamutu. winning by four goals (G. Finch 2, B. Spiers and L. Spiers) to one (B. Gibson).
Franklin.—Matches under the control of Ihe Franklin Ladies' Hockey Association resulted: —Buckland, 7. Pukekawa, 1 ; Onewhero, 7, Bombay, 2; Whiriwbiri United. G. Te Kohanga, 1.
