LIBERATION OF QUAIL
LOCAL BODY'S OPPOSITION [BY TELEGRAFH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] TAURANGA, Saturday A letter was rend at the monthly meeting of the Taurnnga County Council from the Department of Internal Affairs advising that the Taurainga Acclimatisation Society had made an application for permission to have 100 Californian quail from the Marlborough Acclimatisation Society liberated in the former society's district. Before giving further consideration to the matter the department asked whether the council had any objection to offer to the further liberation of Californian quail. Several members referred to the losses caused by quail in consuming clover and turnip seed, and the council adopted a motion replying to the department that it.does not favour the liberation of more quail in the district.
