PROTECTION OF RIGHTS CLUBS AMALGAMATE [from our own correspondent] TE AWAMUTU, Sunday A meeting of the Te Awamutu Acclimatisation Club, after hearing a delegation from Hamilton, decided to amalgamate with the Hamilton Acclimatisation Club, and 25 members enrolled in the room. At the Hamilton Club's invitation, Messrs. W. McGill and D. Clark were appointed to the executive until tho annual meeting in September. The amalgamation was favoured because it was felt that it was essential to co-operate more closely in making representations to secure legislation to prevent private property owners refusing permission to anglers desirous of using the banks of the Waikato River and tributary streams. It was explained that the fishermen do not want the whole length of banks conserved, but merely lengths adjacent to roads where access to the streams can be gained for fishing purpose*.
