PAKURANGA HUNT

MEET AT PUHINUI Tlio Pakuranga Hunt was unable to meet at Rangaimi on Saturday as liad been arranged, on account of the wet state of the country, but Mr. Wills McLaughlin placed his property at Pnhinni at the disposal of followers. Going on the scoria country in the vicinity was surprisingly good considering the amount of rain that had fallen, and the scent was ving well. A hare was started at the rear of tho property, and it took the hunt at n very fast pace for some distance. It swam a tidal creek and went m the direction of Devil's Creek, and after working through tea-tree, went back over tlio creek toward the mountain at the rear of tho homestead. The scent was lost among cattle. Another hare put up circled the mountain twice. It lnade round toward tho creek and then doubled back, and a kill was made. Followers were entertained to afternoon tea bv Mr. and Mrs. McLaughlin at the conclusion of the hunt, and they were thanked for their hospitality by tho master, Mr. H. Bullock-Webster. Tho horse ridden by Mr. A. Ilenwood struck a stone wall hard in the course of the hunt and broke a hind leg. It had to be destroyed. The rider was not injured. The return was made across country to the residence of the deputymaster, Mr. Innea Vereoe, where followers were entertained at afternoon ten.
