NOVEL WH ANGAREI EVENT SUPREMACY OF YOUTH [ KHOM OUH OWN COUKESI'ONDENT] WHANG ARKI, Sunday Of the many unusual forms of entertainment provided on tho programme of tho Whangarei Winter Show, tho most novel was tho wheelbarrow "Derby," which took plneo yesterday afternoon. Some forty entries were received, and the starter of tho raco was Mr. .T. Park, Mayor of Oneluinga. Tho route, which was along Bank, Dent, Cameron and Walton streets, was thronged with people on both sides. It, was a condition of tho contest that "sitter" and "pusher" could relieve each other. The climbing of tho steep hill in Dent Street tested tho condition of tho competitors, the younger ones coming to the fore. The winners were R. Donaldson and K. ( liven, who finished several yards ahead of Fricker and Power. The third pair was L. G. Graham and J. Wilson. Tho winners are members of the Whangaroi Amateur Athletic Club.
