June 28 Martial law has been declared in Poking ,owing to a mutiny by former Manchurian troops who advanced to tho city gates "but wore repulsed after a brief conflict. The gates have been closed to all traffic. This follows the announcement that tho Sino-Japaneso negotiators had reached a complete settlement in regard to the recent Chahar incident. The settlement terms included an apology, tho dismissal of tho officials concerned in the detention of four Japanese who were travelling in Chahar, and also tho removal of certain Chinese units.
