DUEL IN PARIS
NEWLY-ELECTED MAYOR OPPONENT WOUNDED (Received Juno 30 5.5 p.m.) PARIS, June 2? The newly-elected Mayor of Paris, M. Chiappe, formerly Prefect of Police, considering that'his honour had been impugned by the Mayor, M. Godin, in an open letter on the eve of the election, fought a duel with him with pistols. Thoencounter took place before breakfast in a private garden in the Bois de Boulogne, M. Chiappe wounded, M. Godin in one leg. The combatants parted without being reconciled.
