NORTH SHORE CLUB
ANNUAL DANCE HELD' The annual prize presentation dance of the North Shore Amateur Swimming and Life-Saving Club was held at the Masonic Hall, Devonport, on Saturday evening, and in spite of unfavourable weather conditions was well attended. The hall was attractively decorated with streamers in the club colours, blue, and gold, while in the supper room the tables were arranged with vases of yellow wattle and ferns. The president, Mr. D. J. F. Langley, introduced the Mayor of Devonport, Mr. H. F. W. Meikle, who presented the prizes. In a presentation was made to Mr. W. Elworth, a member of the executive and delegate to the Auckland Water Polo Control Board, of a club blazar and a pipe in recognition of his services to the club. Visitors present included the patron of the club, Mr. E. H. Little, Mr. A. T. Davies, secretary of British Empire Games Association, and Mr. Alex Harris, M.P. for Waitemata. The hostesses of the evening were: — The Mayoress of Devonport, Mrs. H. F. W. Meikle, who wore a frock of black souple satin and a black fur coat; Mrs. E. H. Little, cardinal red crushed velvet; Mrs. D. J. F. Langley, Burgundy chiffon velvet; Mrs. T. J. Clench, black satin beaute. Ladies of the committee present were: —Mrs. C. F. Iremonger, who wore black coin spotted net; Mrs. T. C. Hobbs-Jones, wine Chantilly lace; Mrs. Holmes, black georgette; Mrs. A. Ferguson, black panne velvet; Miss Sonia Stock, eau de nil marocain. Also included in the gathering were:—Mrs. T. Jones, Mrs. E. Johnston, Mrs. C. Harper, Mrs. B. du Temple, Mrs. M. Davies. Mrs. T. C. Farquharson, Mrs. A. E. Mabin (Wellington), Mrs. A. T. Davies, Mrs. P. Oliver, Mrs. N. Judkins, Miss Elizabeth Guinness, Miss J. Finlayson, Miss A. Thompson, Miss D. Paterson, Miss J. Myers, Miss J. Bates, Miss Hines, Miss J. Williams, Miss F. Ryan, Miss L. Smith, Miss S. Hilt, Miss Tess Williams, Miss D. McGregor, Miss Ruth Wallace,. Miss Joyce Cooper, Miss I. Larson, Miss G. Howell, Miss K. Sheehan, Miss T. Rogers, Miss B.
