Public notice is hereby given that the Manukau County Council, in pursuance of Sections 120 and 121 of the Counties Act, 1920, Sections 51 and 54 of the Rating Act, 1925, Section 5 of the Valuation of Land Amendment Act, 1933, Section 5 4 2 of the Hospitals and Charitable Institutions Act. 1926, and all Amendments and powers enabling it in that behalf, intends at its next Ordinary Meeting, to be held in the County Chambers, corner of Princes and Shortland Streets, Auckland, on TUESDAY, the Kith day of July, 1935, to make and levy the following Rates:— , MANGERE RIDING.—A General Rate of One and Six Sixty-fourths of a penny (1 6-64 d) in the Pound (£) on the rateable value of all rateable property in the Riding. PAKURANGA RIDING.—A General Rate of Seven-eighths of a penny (7-Sd) in the Pound (£) on the ratefble value of all .rateable property in the Riding. PAPAKURA RIDING.—A General Rate of One and One-sixty-fourths of a penny (1 l-64d) in the Pound (£) on the rateable value of all rateable property in the Riding. WATER RATES AND CHARGES. And notice is hereby further given that in pursuance of powers under "I he Municipal Corporations Act, 1933." "The Rating Act, 1925," and the Acts amending the same respectively, Section 10 of the Reserves and other Lands Disposal and Public Bodies Empowering Act, 1924, and all other powers enabling it in that behalf, the Council will make and levy the following water charges and rates:— (1) WHERE WATER IS SUPPLIED BY METER:— In respect of ordinary supply to consumers as defined by Clause 405 of Part XVI. of tlTe Council's By-laws, the sum of one shilling and ninepence per thousand gallons, with a. minimum rate of seven shillings (7s) pel lml'-year. In respect oi Extraordinary supply to consumers as defined by Clause 405, Part XVI., of the Council's By la.vs, the sum of one shilling and ninepence per thousand gallons for water used in excess of four thousand gallons per linlf-ycar, m addition to the charge by way of water rate hereinbefore mentioned for ordinary supply. (2) NON - CONSUMERS' WATER RATES: — Upon all lands and buildings to which water can be but is not supplied, situated within 100 yards from any part of the waterworks, a rate not exceeding one-half of the rates above-mentioned for ordinary supply per annum, provided that in no case shall the minimum amount bo less than seven shillings (7s) per annum. For the purpose of this levy, the term "rateable value" as defined by Section 2 of the Rating Act, 19'25, shall be modified as follows: (u) In respect of all properties to which the provision of feiib-paragraph (3) of Clause* 6 of "The Valuation of Land Amendment Act, 1933,"' does not apply, the term "rateable value", shall be deemed to mean 75 per cent of the values appearing in the Roll ns corrected from the district Valuation Roll up to Miirch 31, 1935. (b) In respect of each and every property to which sub-paragraph (3) b, of Clause 6 of "The Valuation of Land Amendment Act, 1933," applies, the term "rateable value" shall be deemed to mean either . the amount of the new valuation therein mentioned or 75 per cent of tho aggregate of the original valuation therein mentioned, increased by the value of the improvements therein mentioned, or 75 per cent of the said original valuation, reduced by the value of the improvements removed or destroyed as therein mentioned (as the case may be), whichever is the leßs. (c) In respect of each and every property to which the said sub-paragraph 3 of said Clause 5 applies (other than those properties mentioned in the foregoing clause (b) hereol), 'the term "rateable value" shall be deemed to mean either the amoun jf the new valuation therein mentioned or seventy-five per cent of the original valuation therein mentioned (whichever is the less). The Rates to be for the year commencing on the Ist day of April, 1935, and ending on the 31st day of Marsh, 1936, and to be due and payable in one instalment on the 14th day of September, 1935, to the Collector, Edgar Ashcroft, at the Council's Office, coiner of Shortland and Princes Streets, Auckland, where the valuation rolls and Ratebooks are open for inspection during oSice hoursr Dated at Auckland this 29th day of June, 1935.
