TOUR OF GOLFERS
AUSTRALIAN AMATEUR TEAM Tho New South Wales Golf Council has made the first move toward sending an Australian amateur team to Great Britain next year, says a Sydney writer. It has decided to write to the Australian Golf Union suggesting that it approach the various State governing bodies asking for their co-operation in the matter, and promising New South Wales' whole-hearted support in the venture. The possibility of J. Ferrier and H. W. Hatters],ey going to England next year to compete in the British championships was an opportunity which councillors felt too good to miss. They are undoubtedly Australia's two outstanding amateurs at the present time and form tho nuculc-us of a team which, with the addition of two or perhaps three other outstanding players, would be thoroughly representative of Australia's amateur golf. Tho team would be heartily welcomed in Great Britain with the tour following so closely on the recent visit to Australia of Hon. Michael Scott, J. Maclean, T. Bourne, and L. G. Garnctt as an official British representative team. Quite likely the tour would result in the establishment of a regular series of international matches on the lines of the Walker Cup contest between Great Britain and the United States.
