AUCKLAND CLUB'S EVENTS A cold wind, accompanied by heavy rain squalls, made conditions unpleasant for the Auckland Cycling Club's road events at Panrnure on Saturday. The principal race was the senior contest for the club captain's cup, presented by Mr. J. Sampson. Junior and ladies' races were also held, and, considering the conditions, the fields were well up to the average. Following are the results: — Junior Event, 6} Miles.—C. MANUKAU AMATEUR CLUB Cold, wintry weather and heavy showers made racing conditions severe for the 33 cyclists who rode in the Manukau Amate.ur Cycling Club's events on Saturday. ~ The iuniors raced over two laps, a distance of five miles, Fraser winning easily by 15yds from Grigg. The senior event, over nine laps, a distance of 221 miles, proved a hard race and an extremely cold shower made for most unpleasant riding. However, 26 started and 20 finished. The winner, B. Walker, took the lead on the fifth lap. along with G. Purdom, J. McLaren and B. Hoffmann. Entering the final lap of two and a-half miles Walker and Purdom were the leaders. BEACH HAVEN CLUB The Beach Haven Amateur Cycling Club held a special invitation race on Saturday, when members of the Takapuna Club were the guests for the afternoon. The race was five laps of the Birkdale circuit, a distance of 20 miles. Head winds and poor road conditions made riding difficult.
