Quotations given represent the average for the week, and are selected lines, but for parcels fairly representative of the bulk of shipments now on offer.

MEAT EXPORT RATES LAMB SCHEDULE UNCHANGED Buying of all classes of fat stock for export is considerably quieter, the present period being a slack one. However, bobby calves are now beginning to come forward in larger numbers, this trade being extremely useful in enabling the freezing works to remain open. The current schedule of prices for fat stock on hooks at freezing works is as follows (the rates quoted being largely nominal) Lambs. —Up to 421b., 7d per lb.; over 421b., 6d; seconds, 6}d. LAMB MARKET FIRM SLOW DEMAND FOR BEEF The following cablegrams, dealing with the Smithfield meat market at the close of business last week, have been received: — Bank of New Zealand. —Wethers: There is a bettor demand for light weights. Ewes: The market is dull. Lambs: There is a good demand for prime lambs. Trade is affected by hot weather. Quotations: —Wethers, light, 3Jd to 4Jd per lb.; heavy, 3d to 3jjd; ewes, 2id to 3Jd; lambs, twos, 6Jd to 7d; eights, 6.] dto 7d; fours, 6id to 6Jd; seconds, 6d to 6id. New Zealand Meat Producers' Board. —Lambs: The market is firm, but prices arc unchanged. Consumption continues satisfactory. Mutton: Trade in wethers and owes is slow, with prices unchanged. Beef: The market is affected by low prices on chilled beef. New Zealand porkers: The market is dull owing to hot weather. New Zealand baconers: The market is steady and unchanged.
