MAN RESISTS ARREST
TERM OF IMPRISONMENT The theft of a pair of gumboots, valued at 12s 6d, was admitted in the Police Court on Saturday by John Patrick Murphy, aged 33 (Mr. Aekins). He also pleaded guilty to resisting a constable and using obscene language. Sub-Inspector Fox said a constable accosted accused in Hobson Street on Friday evening, and found the gumboots concealed under his coat. Accused violently resisted, and had to be handcuffed with the assistance of a polio? sergeant. He had a list of previous convictions. Accused was sentenced to three months' imprisonment.
