DECREASE IN BIRTHS
AUCKLAND STATISTICS FIGURES FOR SIX MONTHS A marked decline in births is a feature of the vital statistics in Auckland both for June and for the first six months of the year. Last month 166 births were registered, a decrease, of 16 compared with June, 1934. The registrations for the six months ended Juno 30 totalled 1198, a decrease of 48 in comparison with the corresponding period of last year. Deaths last month numbered 152, a decrease of one. The total for the halfyear, 881, showed an increase of 23. Marriages, including marriages by the registrar, totalled 167 last month, compared with 171 in June, 1934. The total for tho six months, however, was 1126, an increase of two.
