NELSON COLLEGE RECORDS
Rugby and cricket NEW OLD EOYS' REGISTER [by telegraph—own correspondent] NELSON, Thursday At the annual meeting of the Nelson College Old Boys' Association a letter was received from the principal of the college, drawing attention to the fact that the Rugby and cricket honours boards went back only as far as 1904 and asking if the association could assist in the completion of the records for previous years. It was pointed out that teams representing Nelson and "Wellington Colleges played the first inter-school Rugby match in New Zea land in 1878. The letter was referred to the executive. A discussion took place regarding the main college building. Tho retiring president, Mr. W. C. Harley, said that the association had so far remained fairly quiet in order not to embarrass the governors in their efiorts. However, the executive felt that the association's support in urging the Government to replace the building-, which was seriouslv damaged by the earthquake in ] 931, would be welcome. Messrs. Pitt, Holdon-Webb, and Sclanders were appointed a committee for the purpose of compiling a complete jregister of the old bo\s of the college. 3dr. G. Samuel was elected president ci the association.
