LABOUR CAMPAIGN
ADDRESS BY THE LEADER APPEAL FOR CLEAR ISSUE [uy TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION] TE AWAMUTU, Wednesday The Leader of the Opposition, Mr. M. J. Savage, M.P., addressed a largely-attended meeting in the To Awamutu Town Hall last night. fn the course of his speech ho warned electors against the Government's "auxiliary forces," which, he said, were sure to make another attempt to divide the people at the polls. The official Labour Party was the only possible alternative to the Coalition Government, said -Mr. Savage, and he appealed to the people to make up their minds either for or against Labour. Wherever Labour candidates were nominated, the issue should be clear. With 24 members in the House now, said Mr. Savage, the Labour Party had a glorious chance of forming the next Government, and if given a working majority he had 110 fear of the consequences. No doubt much money would be spent in an attempt to stampede the electors and to provide alleged alternatives, but the experience of the past had been that all these alternatives had found it possible to combine against Labour on vital issues.
