ROUND TABLE CLUBS

The fortnightly meeting of the Y.W.C.A. Business and Professional Hound Table Club was held on Monday evening, the president, Miss Arawa Heron, presiding. The speaker was Mis 3 Joan Begg, who spoke of a visit she had paid to Geneva and of tho work of the Y.W.C.A. World's Council, at which she had represented 1 India. Another speaker was .Miss Amy A. Snelson, a former National Y.W.C.A. secretary, or Australia, and New Zealand, and one of the foremost workers in the British organisation. Miss Snelson was the promoter of the scheme in London, which had resulted in the big Central Y.W.C.A. Club being formed there. Miss Snelson was welcomed by the president and later spoke of the wonderful opportunities which the needs of to-day had developed for business and professional women. An address on " The Struggle for Power," was given by Mrs. F. Bauer at a luncheon held yesterday by the Auckland Business and Professional Women's Bound Table Club on Mud o and Choyce's balcony. The speaker made a rapid survey of world conditions from feudal times to the present day. The pernicious system of monopoly in various products was also discussed. " We want a more personal touch and a more understanding-spirit for other nations' needs," remarked Mrs. Bauer* " Not a struggle for power that causes suffering and starvation to others* Education of women in national afiairs was a vital factor in encouraging the® to co-operate in securing more power for the betterment of mankind.
