TE AWAMUTU BOROUGH

LOWER INSURANCE RATES [from our own correspondent] TE AWAMUTU, Tuesday The Te Awamutu Borough Council last night received an intimation from the Auckland Underwriters' Association that it had been decided to lower the fire insurance rates in To Awamutu from the present E tariff to D tariff, the reduction to apply to all insurances as they fell due on and after August 1. The Mayor, Mr. G. Spinley, said this would be pleasing news for it represented a saving to ratepayers of several hundred pounds annually. Owners of buildings in the business area would benefit most, but residences were also affected. The reduction was made because the ratepayers had provided a much improved water service, for which a loan of £IO,OOO was sanctioned last year.
