BRITISH BY-ELECTION
SCOTTISH UNIVERSITIES NATIONAL CANDIDATE WINS (Received June 25, 12.35 a.m.) LONDON, June 24 Following the appointment of Mr. Jolin Buehan (since raised to the peerage) as Governor-General of Canada, a by-election was held" for the Scottish Universities seat he has vacated. The election resulted: — Mr. Graham Kerr (National Conservative 20,507 Mrs. Naomi Mitchison (Labour) 4,293 A by-election in 1927 resulted : Mr. John Buehan (Conservative), 16.968; Mr. Hugh Guthrie (Labour), 2378. There has been no change in the representation since then.
