DEFECT IN CABLE
NORFOLK ISLAND LOCALITY A fault has developed in the Pacific cable near Norfolk Jsland, and the cable steamer Recorder is to leave Auckland on Tuesday to carry out repairs. The defect is in the Norfolk island-Doubtless Bay portion of the cable. After repairs have been completed the Recorder will proceed from Norfolk Island to Suva to load a quantity of spare cable. This will be brought to Auckland and stored at Devonport.
