HOWICK TOWN BOARD
NO CHANGE IN RATES The estimates for the year were presented at a meeting of the Howick Town Board on Thursday night. The financial position of the board was stated to be satisfactory, tho new year being commenced with a credit balance. The following rates, in each case similar to that levied last year, were approved:—General rate, 1 3-40 d in tho pound; hospital, 11-40 d; street lighting, 4-40 d; interest account, 22-40 d; total rate, 2d. The rateable capital value of the district is £220,000, an increase of £3OOO since last wear.
