REVIEW OF THE FIELDS

The. Auckland Trotting Club's Winter Meeting opens at Epsom to-day, and with good fields engaged the racing should he full of interest. Some highclass horses are listed for the chief races, the Adams Memorial Cup and the Cornwall Handicap. There will be two totalisator pools, one for two dividends, 1 5 and 25 per cent, and the other for threee dividends, 33$ per cent each in fields of eight or more, and two dividends, 50 per cent each, in fields of five, six or seven. Young Rodney should go solidly, while recent form suggests distinct possibilities for Meadow King. The chief fancies may be CAPTAIN BOLT. If the track is not too soft, Cherrill will be fancied, and Frank Best is a maiden who is likely to show a good deal of improvement. Great Chum and Derby Fame are not without prospects. Bismuth and Our McKinney are solid pacers who should handle the conditions to advantage, but Tinokaha and Ironside may find the going •unsuitable. Rockella and Lucky Love are good improvers who should race creditably. Fancies may be well distributed, with a
