OPERATIONS AT WAJHI 41240 Z. FROM 16,777 TONS [bt telegraph—OWN correspondent] WAIHI, Friday The following information has been cabled to the London office of the Martha Gold Mining Company (Waihi), Limited: —For the period ended June S, comprising 21 days, 16,777 tons of ore were crushed for a result of 4124 fine oz. of gold and 26,023 fine oz. of silver. This includes 1587 tons of pre mined from the Waihi Grand Junction area, which yielded 4il fine oz. of gold and 1350 fine oz. of silver. * " No. 2 Level. —The lode situated at 10ft. in the Hooper crosscut has been driven on to the west for a further 44ft. The average assay value is 32s a ton and the average width of the lode is 2£ft. No. 7 Level. —North branch of the Martha Lode: Driving west in the. next 53ft., the assay value is erratic, the width of the vein being about Sin. No. 13 Level.—Edward Lode: Driving south, the next 28ft'. asisays 3s 6d a ton. Ulster Lode: For the .first ,51ft. of driving west the assay value is 20s 9d a ton, the width of the lode being about 3ft.

YIELDS OF COMPANIES Golden Dawn (Owharoa). —For the 11 working days ended June 10 a total of 283 tons of ore was treated for a return of £1516, realisation estimated at £7 2s a gold ounce. King Solomon (Gore) . —This week, 660z. Idwt. NEW DAM AT WAITAHU The Waitahu Gold Mining Company, Limited (near Greymouth) reports that a contract has been let for the construction of the new dam, and the company has a sum available sufficient to cover the whole outlay. A start has already beon made by the contractors, who expect to complete their contract by September 30. REPORTS OF MANAGERS Mataki (Murchison). —Last week the dredge pulled ahead 30ft. in ground, the average depth of which was 18ft. The wash dirt remained much the same as in the previous week, the ground dipping a little in the river. The river, with the exception of 20ft- in the extreme western sid<3, is all worked ground. The bank at the junction of the two cuts is becoming-rougher and may improve at any time. We are still about four chains from Ragg's Koad. All machinery is working well.
