BRITISH DRAMA LEAGUE FORTHCOMING ACTIVITIES Tho entries for tho two national oneact play competitions arranged by the New Zealand branch of the British Drama League, close on June 29, at the headquarters of the branch in Featherstone Street, Wellington. Tho Radio Record trophy is for the best original one-act play by a New Zealand author whoso plays have hitherto been unpublished, and the Tui's annual trophy, for the best original one-act play, is open to all New Zealand authors. A short written opinion by the judges will be given each entrant, and tho six plays which rank the highest will receive*a detailed criticism.

Tho branch has a very busy time ahead. Festivals of drama will be held in twelve areas. The first'takes place in Dunedin in July, followed by one in the Wairarapa area at Masterton; Central Taranaki area comes next with a festival at Stratford, and Wanganui later in tho month. There will be three elimination festivals this year, two in the North Island—at Stratford and Dannovirke—and ono in the south at Dunedin. Teams from area festivals will meet at these festivals and tho winners will go on to the national final festival at Hastings in October. In addition to these there will bo a number of junior festivals; one at Wellington in August, and another at Christchurch in July. Auckland runs a junior section in connection with the area festival in September.
