Drury. The June meeting of the branch was presided over by Mrs .Draper. After business was concluded a paper .was read by Miss Thorpe on her two years travel in England and Germany A competition on old photographs caused much amusement. Karaka. At the June meeting several new members were welcomed. The roll call, "A humorous storv or joke " , caused much amusement.'The monthly competition, "Best rock garden in a soup plate," was won by Miss L. . Glasson, Miss Bryant being second' Many of the entries were works of art. true in every detail even to the summer houses, lily ponds, winding paths and steps. A written competition was won by Mrs V. C. Bailey. A splendid parcel of clothing for the newlv-formed Western group depot was supplied bv Mrs. McGees' group of the sewing circle. Mauku. At a meeting of the branch members expressed appreciation of the programme arranged for the country girls educational week. In addition to reading this programme, the president, Mrs. Jones, reported on the western group activities. The roll call was "Ways with potatoes." Many useful remnants were brought to the meeting and these were distributed to members to be made up. Clark, reported on the western group meeting and also read the programme for the country girls' educational week. The roll call, " What our husbands think of the division," brought forth very varied replies. Mrs. Wyatt, of Pukekohe, gave a demonstration of wool t|l l ill making, and in addition spoke on the needs of the Maoris, asking for the division's support in helping them. The competitions were for melon jam, a working man's lunch and the best article from a flour bag, Patumahoe.—At a recent meeting of the branch, presided over by Mrs. Parkinson, Miss Ayling, of Auckland, gave members an hour's instruction on leather work. This was followed with interest and during that time an attractive purse was produced. A silver spoon was presented to Baby Smith. At a later meeting the competition for a sponge roll was won by Mr,s. Needham. The resignation of' Mrs. Waite, who is leaving the district, was accepted with regret. Mrs. Watson was thanked for her elforts in connection with a concert, which brought in a helpful amount to branch funds. Pongakawa.—A meeting of the branch was held recently, Mrs. Law presiding. The officers' badges for the year were presented by the president. The junior members, assisted by Miss Tanner, of the Te Puke branch, gave a resume of the experiences at the Tauranga educational coursp. The prize for the papier macho competition went to Mrs. Nettlinghain. The award for the best bloom in the garden was won by Mrs. lrovor Bonner. Mrs. Downie, sen., gave a demonstration of "Setting Pockets." Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdaines Tait and Trevor. Te Kohanga.—The president, Mrs. P. C. Lawson, presided at the June meeting of the branch. A competition arranged by Miss G. Cole-Baker waa won by Mrs. C. J. Williams.
