Si References to tho benefits to business obtained by the carnival were made by Mr. 0. L. Fletcher, president of the Balmoral Business Men's Association, Mr. T. McNab, Mayor of Mount Eden, Mr. A. S. Richards, M.P. for Roskill, and Mr. E. R. Greenfield, who was prominent in organising tho carnival, in brief addresses. Mr. Fletcher said the results had been more than encouraging since the carnival began last Monday* and the event had brought the district into prominence. The success of the gala was largely due to the interest taken by the shopkeepers in leaking the event attractive to tho public. Messrs. McNab and Richards stressed the advantages t-o the district which had been obtained through public support, and congratulated the organising committee and Mr. Greenfield in particular. On behalf of a, business man, Mr. R. J. Cfctes, Mr. Richards presented Mr. Greenfield with a mounted walking stick. =. ,
