THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE QUIETER TONE DEVELOPS Trading on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday was quieter, but levels were well maintained. Government loans had steady support, but the only business was in 1946 4 per cent 'stock, which rose 10s to £IOB. Offers for both 1955 issues rose by 5s to £lll 10s.

In banks New Zealands gained Id in two sales at 50s, following which holders roso 2d, but later returned to 60s. Reserve Banks were traded unchanged at £6 9s 6d. New Zealand Insurances were done 3d better at 68s, hut subsequently offers were made at 675, a fall of 3d. Nationals were steady on sale at 20s 6d. -* Nations;! Timbers improved 3d in business at 13s 3d, while Broken Hill Proprietaries changed hands at 58s 6d, a gain of Is 9d. Farmers' Fertilisers ; were transferred Is lower at 19s 9d, but improved-to 20s. Transactions at -current rates were made in Auckland Gas, New Zealand Breweries and Consolidated Bricks. Oilers for Colonial Sugars rose 12s 6d to £43 ss, but holders did not quote.
