NEWSPAPER MERGER
PRESS SHAREHOLDERS MEET CONFIRMATION OF AGREEMENTS [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] CHRISTCHURCH, Friday An extraordinary general meeting of shareholders of the Christchurch Press Company, Limited, was held to-day, Mr. George Gould, chairman of directors, presiding. The following resolution was carried unanimously:—(l) That the capital of the company should be increased to £200,000 by the creation of 20,000 shares of £5 each; (2) that this meeting of shareholders of the Christchurch Press Company. Limited, confirms the agreements entered into on May 27, 1935, with Sun Newspapers, Limited, and New Zealand Newspapers, Limited, and authorises the directors to carry out all the necessary arrangements for giving effect to these agreements.
The proposals agreed to by shareholders of the Christchurch Press Company, Limited, are connected with the Christchurch newspaper merger. Shareholders of Sun Newspapers, Limited, will meet in Christchurch on Monday and there will be a meetinc of shareholders in New Zealand Newspapers, Limited, at Auckland on June 28.
