LIFE-SAVING DISPUTE

INQUIRY INTO SUSPENSION The recent suspension of a member of the Milford Surf and Life-Saving Club by tlio Auckland Council of tho New Zealand Surf and Life-Saving Association was the subject of an official inquiry last evening at tho clubhouse of tho Takapuna Surf Club. It was stated that tho reasons for tho suspension were that during the course of an examination for tho surf medallion, supervised by tho association's axaminer, Mr. A. Faulkner, who based his questions on tho requirements of the official handbook, tho member of tho Milford Club concerned, being unnblo to answer ono question, accused the examiner of trying to trick him. Subsequently, it was alleged, tho member insulted tho examiner. The member lodged an appeal with tho New Zealand Council, which appointed its president, Mr. P. Coira, and honorary secretary, Mr. R. N. Ingram, both of Wellington, to conduct tho inquiry. Proceedings were taken in camera.

Messrs. Coira and Ingram stated that they would report their finding to the New Zealand Council, which would later announce its decision.
