SOUTH AFRICAN TEAM MATCH WITH LANCASHIRE LONDON. June 19 There was no play this forenoon in the return match between South Africa and Lancashire. In the afternoon rain and bad light confined the county's first innings to two hours. Bell bowled admirably, and at one stage the county lost five wickets for 25 runs in 50 minutes. Hopwood saved a rout, but six wickets were down for 92 when stumps were drawn. Details of the score are:—

It includes 21 matches, and the tour will extend over 15 weeks. COUNTIES' LOSSES EFFECT OF WET SEASON LONDON, June 19 Rain lias washed out so much cricket that several counties have had severe losses. At Nottingham the receipts for the first test match against South Africa, exclusive of reserved seats, were £2134, compared with £6OOO against Australia in 193-L J Lancashire's deficit on the three Whitsuntide games was £4OOO. Middlesex's losses for the season total £3OOO. For Gloucestershire, in one match the takings were not sufficient to pay the umpires.
