OBITUARY

MR. W, H. LANE ... The death has occurred in Auckland of Mr. Wilfred Henry Lane, of Kaeo, North Auckland, aged 51. Mr. Lane was born at Totara North, where his father, the principal of the firm of T. M. Lane and Sons, Limited, for many years carried on the business of sawmilling and boatbuilding. In 1909 the firm opened a branch of the boatbuilding section of the business at Auckland, and Mr. W. H. Lane and a brother were placed in charge. He returned to Totara North in 1916 and in 1919 took up. dairy farming in the Kaeo Valley. Farming on modern lines, he became recognised as one of the leading dairy farmers in the district, and in 1918 was appointed chairman of directors of the Whangaroa Co-operative Dairy Company, an office he held until his death. Mr. Lane took a keen interest in local affairs. For six years up to last April he was chairman of the Whangaroa County Council and Whangaroa Harbour Board, and a member of the Whangaroa Hospital Board. He also represented the Whangaroa County Council on the No. 1 District Highways Council for five years. Mr. Lane is survived by his wife, six sons and two daughters., MR. J. E. TRISTRAM The death occurred yesterday of Mr. James Emmanuel Tristram, well known as a chemist in business in Broadway, Newmarket, at, the age of 67 years. Mr. 'lristram, who resided in Kdgerley Avenue, Epsom, was born in Kihikihi. He served his apprenticeship in Hamilton and came to Auckland first about 40 years ago, working in the city and then managing a business at Newmarket. Subsequently he entered business on his own account in Wellington, and later in Napier., and then returned to Auckland in 19:20. Two or three years later he commenced in business in Epsom, and four and a-hnlf years ago opened the present business in Newmarket. He had been ill for the past four months. He is survived by Mrs. Tristram. MR. :E. T. GASH [BY TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT*! WHANGAREI, Thursday The death occurred at the Whangarei District Hospital to-day of Mr. Edwin T. Gash, aged 3*. Mr. Gash was headmaster of the Ruakaka School, and was born near Henderson. He attended the Auckland Training College and took charge of the Otaika School 10 years ago. Subsequently he was promoted to first assistant, at the Whangarei School, which position he occupied for a number of years. He was appointed headmaster at lluakaka early this year. Mr. Gash was a lay reader and circuit steward in the Whangaroi Methodist Church. He was a prominent cricketer and has represented Whangarei and North Auckland. He leaves a widow and five young children. MR. WILLIAM ROBSON [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] GISBORNE, Thursday The death has occurred of Mr. William Robson, a well-known sheepfarmer. In his younger days Mr. Robson represented the North of Kngland, and later Hawke's Bay, in Rugby football. MISS E. MOLLOUMBY

The death occurred recently at Wellington of Miss Ellen Moiloumby, a wellknown business woman. Miss Moiloumby during her long business career occupied many responsible positions, among them being posts with C. M. Koss and Company, Limited, Palmerston North, Potties, Gisborne, Blyth's, Napmr. Kainpoi \Vo6llen Company, Christchurch, and Milne and Choyce, Limited, Auckland. She is survived by three sisters, Miss J. Moiloumby, of Auckland; Mrs. Ronald Rudder, Manly; and Mrs. M. Gandy, St. Kilda, Melbourne.'
