ANZAC DAY OBSERVANCE
ATTITUDE OF EX-SOLDIERS [BT TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON. Thursday A proposal that Anzac Day should bo observed henceforth as a statutory holiday was overwhelmingly rejected at the conference of the New Zealand , Returned Soldiers' Association to-night. A Matamata remit that the day should be kept as a sacred day of remembrance was carried.
