HEALTH OF MAORIS
MEDICAL OFFICER'S TOUR [by TELEGRAPH OWN correspondent! KAIKOHE, Thursday The medical officer of health for North Auckland, Dr. D. Cook, and Dr. Erwin are at present making a tour of the North, meeting the various Maori councils, the main subject of discussion being a new regulation prohibiting the "lying in state" of bodies for more than a specified time. The natives naturally wish to retain their old customs, but the Health Department is as anxious that these should not in any way prejudice the health of the Maori race. A meeting was held in Kaikoho yesterday.
