JHE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE QUIET TONE PREVAILS Conditions were again quiet on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday, and turnover was limited. Levels generally were steady. Little change occurred in the market for Government loans, although a few offers advanced slightly. Business was done in 1940 4 per cent stock at £lO3, an unchanged rate. In banks, English, Scottish and Australians gained 6d to sell at £5 Is 6d, while New South Wales were done 5s firmer at £3l. Holders of Unions quoted Is 6d .lower at £8 19s 6d, but there was no inquiry. Timber shares were fairly active. Bartholomews wore taken 4d higher at 16s, but Leyland O'Briens were 6d easier on sale at 21s. .'Nationals were done unchanged at 13s. Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneerings (A preference) were traded at 23s 3d and established a gain of Is 6d over the last sale in November. New Zealand Newspapers, were traded at the current rate, 38s 6d, but Sun Newspapers_sold at, 8s Id and Ss 3d, a total gain of 3d.

RUBBER OUTPUT ESTIMATE OF PRODUCTION ■ An outhority in Holland estimates_the world production of rubber in 1935 at 813,688 tons. The countries is placed at 737,688 tons, of non-restricted countries 44,000 tons, arid Siam 32,000 tons, and with 12,614 tons carried from the previous season the total available is 826,302 tons. In IS'34 aggregate exports of rubber from Producing countries were 1,027,572 tons, bo that the estimated production for 15'35 will show a decrease of about 20 pur cent. / ./
