HILLSBOROUGH CEMETERY

ALTERATION OF BOUNDARIES Some misconception has arisen concerning the statement attributed to Mr. C. M. McCullough, chairman of the Mount Roskill Road Board, at a meeting with the Onehunga Borough Council on Monday night, when requests were made to the council relating to the Hillsborough cemetery and improvements to Hillsborough Road, leading to the cemetery. The Mayor of Onchunga, Mr. J. Park, had expressed the opinion that it would be advantageous to both local bodies if the boundaries of the two districts were altered to include Hillsborough cemetery and its approaches in the Onehunga borough. Mr. McCullough was reported as having said that the board would be only too pleased to hand over the cemetery, whereas his statement was that "the board would be only too pleased to hand it over," meaning the whole district between Onehunga and the cemetery, including the approaches to the latter. The cemetery is already owned by the Onehunga Borough Council.
