AUSTRALIANS IN DOUBLES WILL MEET IN THE FINAL (Eeceived May 26, 5.5 p.m.)) ... ' PARIS, May 25 In the French tennis championships the semi-finals of the men's doubles resulted: —Crawford and Quist defeated Legeay and Lesneur, 6—4, 3—6, 6—4, 12 —10; McGrath and Turn bull defeated Perry and Tuckey, 3—6, 6—3, 6—4, 4—6, 6—4. McGrath and Turnbull combined well. They concentrated on Tuckey, who frequently broke, down on volleys. Turnbull's terrific service had both the Englishmen in trouble, Perry attempting to take all shots on the forehand. Quist was outstanding in the other ra&tch. He seemed capable of carrying it on his own shoulders. Crawford was uncertain, and his driving, volleying and service all lacked sting. For. the first time in the history of the championships, Australia is assured of winning the men's doubles. Other results are: —Men's singles, second round, Denker defeated Merlin, 6—3. 6-—2, 7—5. Women's doubles, semi-finals: Misses Scriven and Stammers defeated .Vadame Henrotin and Mrs. Andrus, 14—12, 6—4; Mile. Adamoff and Airs. Spelling defeated Misses Yorke and Hardwick, 6—l, 6 —3.
Mixed doubles, fourth round: Legeay and Madame Henrotin defeated Von Cramm and Mrs. Sperling, 3—6, 6—3, B—6; Bernard and Mile. Payot defeated Borotra and Fraulein Rosamberg, 6—l, 6 —3; Hines arid Mrs. Andrus defeated Ted Wilde and Miss Stammers, 10—8, 6—3; Lesueur and Mme. Mathieu defeated Tuckey and Miss Scriven, I—6,1 —6, 6 —3, 6—3. SURREY TOURNAMENT ANDREWS WINS SINGLES ■'' (Received May 26, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON. May 25 In the Surrey tennis championships the final cf the singles resulted:— Andrews (New Zealand), defeated Spenee, 6—2, 6 —3. The final of the women's singles was won by Miss Joan Haribigan, who defeated Miss King, 6-7-4, 6 —3
