CAGE BIRD SHOW

THE HUNTLY CLUB AN EXCELLENT DISPLAY [FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT J HUNTLY. Saturday The fifth annual show held by the Huntly Canary and Cage Bird Club was opened yesterday afternoon and concluded this evening. The exhibition of canaries, budgerigars and British and foreign birds was one of the largest ever staged in the Waibato, entries totalling 402 being received, against 267 last year. There were entrants from New Plymouth, Tauranga, Auckland and Hamilton, as well as Huntly, The judge of the budgerigar section, Mr. J. R. Walker, Auckland, remarked on the fine exhibits of budgerigars, and said the standard had considerably improved. Mr. G. Annan, of Auckland, judge of the Norwich canary section, said it was outstanding! while Mr. G. Beeston, of Auckland, judge of the Yorkshire, canaries, remarked on the splendid showing. The prizes were presented by the Mayor, Mr. W. C. E. George, this afternoon. The winners of the cups and trophies were:— CANARIES Norwich Section.—Cox Cup and miniature, for most points: H. Giles, Hamilton. Shaw Cup, for best Norwich, Major Cup, for best untii ghted Norwich (bred by exhibitor). Butcher Cup, for best unflighted, single nominated Norwich (bred by exhibitor). Mr. H. J.
