ELLERSLIE TRAINING USEFUL EFFORTS RECORDED VERSANTI SIX FURLONGS SCHOOLING OF JUMPERS A solid six furlongs by Versant and Bome useful schooling work were features of the training operations at Ellerslie on Saturday, when the weather was fine and the tracks holding. The No. 2 grass was available for galloping and the jumpers had the use of hurdles on the outside of the course proper and the steeplechase course. On the grass Supreme Ruler, after running the first three in 38 3-ss, got to tho end of six furlongs in 1.19 4-5. He was lightly weighted and strode along with plenty of freedom. Wee Pat and Kiimtiir encompassed a round in 1.59, the last si* furlongs in 1.28 1-5. They were not bustled at any stage and were together all the way. Ruling King worked over a round in 1.52 4-5, the last six furlongs in 1.23 3-5. Versant ran his first three in 38s and completed six furlongs in 1.18 1-5. Ho is doing his work nicely and appears to have trained on very satisfactorily since racing at Avondale.

Zane Grey and Arabesque were worked over a distance. They ran the first halfmile in 53 4-5s and Zane Grey was well clear at the end of another round, running the last six furlongs in 1.30 4-5. Thespis also went soundly over a distance, striding along froely. On Parade was better than Teddy Boy, with Hope Lass some lengths behind, at the conclusion of five furlongs in 1.5 1-5. Radnor encompassed a round in 1.56 1-5, the last six furlongs in 1.27 1-5. Solaria placed six furlongs behind in 1.19 3-5, the first three in 38 2-ss. His stablemate Abbey Fealo led him over the last five in 1.7 1-5. Kiltowyn was going comfortably in front of Volition at the completion of a round in 1.50 4-5, the last six furlongs in 1.21 1-5 and tho last half-mile in 545. Kiltowyn is carrying a bright and muscular appearance. Catoma and Jewelled Girdle negotiated a round in 1.51 2-5, the last six furlongs in 1.21 3-5. United ran six furlongs in 1.22 1-5, and Vera Acre covered the same distance in 1.21 2-5. Gascelle defeated Gold Hod over a round in 1.51 3-5, the last six furlongs in 1.24 2-5. Gascelle appears to be making some improvement and is more solid in condition than previously. Karangapai (Williams) jumped four hurdles on the course proper. It was his first attempt over these fences and he jumped very carefully. Timed from the first to the fourth hurdle he took 1.29 2-5. The Sun (Simpson) and D'Artagnan (Turvey) went over four hurdles on the course proper in 1.24. They made no mistakes and gave quite a satisfactory exhibition. Adsum (Turvey) jumped six hurdles in the middlo and shaped fairly well. Ali (Turvey) and Cornerman (Simpson) set out to cover a round of the steeplechase fences. Cornerman fell heavily at the firstfence of the double and Ali ran off at the stonewall. Ali then continued on but fell at the hurdle near the seven furlongs. Both horses were remounted later and fenced safely until reaching the stonewall, where Ali ran off again. It was an unimpressive exhibition.
