DAIRY FACTORY'S JUBILEE
PROGRESS AT PIOPIO £BY TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] TE KUITI, Saturday About 300 people assembled in the Piopio Town Hall last evening to celebrate the silver jubilee of the Piopio Co-operative Dairy Factory. It was in 1909 that the movement was started to establish the factory, the district having only been opened to settlement a few years previously. In the following year the company began operations. The first supplies came from 25 settlers, and the. output was 18J tons. It had since risen to 850 tons. The assembly, standing in silence, honoured the memory of the promoters of the factory, who had since died, Messrs. Odwyer, Thorburn, Bcvego and Fulcher being specially mentioned.
